What are named user and floating licences?
Basic licence
With the Named User/Basic licence, the user must ensure that a valid licence key is available for each instance of EA running at the same time. This means that a user may install his EA version on several machines, e.g. on a computer at home and in the company, but only one instance is used at a time.
Floating licence
Floating licences are used in companies that want to be informed about how their employees are using Enterprise Architect. This service is included with the floating licence and is provided via the Sparx Enterprise Key Store.
The Key Store is installed on the network and provides the licence keys for users to check out. Keys can be managed by the administrator and there are options for expiry date or auto check in/out.
Enterprise Architect can be installed indefinitely, the number of concurrent use is regulated by the number of floating keys.

How does the licence system work?
All MDG extensions to Enterprise Architect are distributed as licensed products according to the guidelines of the EULA. The respective plugin is activated by downloading the Trial Edition and entering the licence key for the full version.
