This book is your key to learning all of the relevant things you need to know about the
practical use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Systems Engineering for mechatronic
systems. It introduces you to the Control Chain approach for describing hardware/
software systems on a logical level. With this methodology you can describe hardware
and software components as a comprehensive functional assembly.

  • Model-based Systems Engineering with SysML and the Control Chain approach
  • All in-practice-relevant topics for Model-based Systems Engineering are covered
    in this book
  • Learn about SysML and the related state-of-the-art technologies

This book is subdivided into two sections: Section I addresses those who are new to the domain
of model-based systems development. In addition to an introduction to systems engineering and
model-based development, this section also offers a practical introduction to SysML and its
diagram types. Important object orientation definitions as well as regularly-occurring UML and
SysML technical terms are also introduced.
Section II goes straight into the concrete application of SysML for the development of technical
systems – specifically also sensor/actuator systems. In addition to the detailed description of
the required engineering contexts and a continuous example, the areas of tool selection and
introduction, supporting necessary processes and versioning, and tool integration will all be
expanded upon. This section concludes with a chapter offering tips and insights from practical
experience on what to look out for when introducing model-based engineering, as well as a
chapter with an outlook on current trends in model-based engineering.

The website for this book can be found here . There you’ll find
information about the book, useful SysML-related links and a link to download the model for
the use case described in the Chapter entitled 7. This model is intended to make it easier to
better follow and internalize the concepts and approaches described in this book. So, please
