New appointment recognizes ongoing commitment to Object Management Group (OMG) initiatives.

Sparx Systems, a leading vendor of modeling tools based on open standards, today announced that Sam Mancarella, the company's Chief Technology Officer, has been elected to the OMG's Architecture Board. The Architecture Board members, announced during OMG's December Technical Meeting, will be responsible for reviewing each new OMG standard before it is adopted.

"I'm honored by the recognition and confidence so many of my OMG colleagues have given me through my election to the Architecture Board," said Mancarella. "This role will enable me to make a significant contribution to OMG's state-of-the-art specifications and standards over the next two years." Mancarella added, "I am looking forward to serving the OMG and its members, Sparx Systems, and the greater modeling industry in this prestigious role."

Mr. Mancarella has over 10 years' experience in software development, wireless communications and academia, and since 2003 has been heavily involved in the development of Sparx Systems' flagship modeling tool Enterprise Architect.
